EDAMS FAQs

eDams is an acronym for Electronic Development Applications Management System. It is an automated system used to electronically approve submitted plans by authorized professionals (architects / Planners / Structural Engineers) through an online portal. The processing of the applications and issuance of the permit is done electronically with notifications being send on every stage of processing.
You will be required to submit a number of documents depending on the nature of your construction. Some of these documents include: -
  • Land Ownership documents
  • Property Rate Payment Receipts
  • Survey Plan/RIM/Beacon Certificate
  • Progress tracking of submitted application from the user dashboard
  • Copy of Approved Plans
The documents formats permitted are .pdf, .doc, .docx and common Image formats
All applications can be tracked through the system by simply logging into the system and accessing the eDams page from the home screen. All applications made by the logged in user will be listed and progress shown. The system also has notifications send to the applicant on every stage of processing
Once the application is fully approved, a notification will be sent to the applicant. The applicant will also be able to view the status on the eDams home screen on logging into the system.
If an application is rejected, a notification will be sent to the applicant. The notification will include reasons for rejection and any action needed to be taken. The application status will also be viewed on the system when the applicant log into the system.
The application goes through various reviewers. The following are the reviewers: -
  • Development Control
  • Forward Planning
  • Fire Protection
  • Roads
  • Housing Development
  • Structural
  • Public Health (MOH)
  • Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company
  • NEMA
  • Kenya Railways
  • KAA
  • Monitoring & Enforcement
If an application is rejected, a notification will be sent to the applicant. The notification will include reasons for rejection and any action needed to be taken. The application status will also be viewed on the system when the applicant log into the system.
Notifications are sent via SMS and/or Email.
After submission, you will not be required to edit an application not unless it has been returned to you by a reviewer to make amends.
